Brief History
The sculptor Auguste Rodin was born in Paris and spent most of his time there. He did not find success in the initial days and was rejected 3 times after failing the entrance exams to the art school École des Beaux-Arts. Determined to pursue his passion and not lose heart over the rejection, he decided to give a shot at architecture in Brussels by working on decorations for public monuments. After a few years of working there, he decided to travel around Italy for inspiration and during this time, he was inspired by the masterpieces of Donatello and Michelangelo. With this, after returning back to Brussels he began working on “The Age of Bronze” that was appreciated and accepted in the Salon in Paris in 1877.
